The starting salary is £33,348, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.
The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale - £32,639. Plus a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Our PCSOs work shifts. This will attract a shift disturbance allowance of between 12.5% and 20%. If you need to work overtime, you are paid for this.
Our Metropolitan Police Service (Met) PCSOs are a vital part of our policing family. Your initial six weeks of training will set you up in your new role, helping you to build the skills that you need. There’s more support and role specific training throughout your career.
PCSOs are members of police staff, not police officers, and work in uniform across London delivering as part of our team to keep London safe for everyone.
You’ll need to build relationships working within and alongside London’s communities, relationships that those who call our city home value the most.
So you’ll be a great communicator and calm under pressure. Tackling the things that matter most to the people we serve is key so you’ll be able to problem solve; work in partnership and as part of a team.
Being a PCSO is both challenging and rewarding, but you’ll have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of Londoners - preventing and solving crime; gathering vital information from the communities you work within and managing traffic.

There are no education requirements for this role but you will need to be 18 or over upon your start date.
